Allison Shelling is an artist and art educator in the Richmond school district, in BC Canada.
She holds a bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Saskatchewan and a Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia.
While in the Fine Arts program at the U of S she focused her interest in sculpture. The earth, nature and past histories of landscapes and objects were topics that she worked with.
Themes of memory and experience continue to be large areas of exploration in Allison’s practice. Having moved from the large cast concrete installations, she continues to use casting methods but on a much smaller scale. Her newer ceramic wall tiles and jewelry show a more delicate and portable approach to art making.
“I like creating entirely new stories with the combination of a few different elements.”
